Isn’t it amazing that throughout your entire life the people call you by your name, but the moment your soul has been taken from your person they refer to you as the ‘body’…
“Where’s the body? When will we bury the body?”
Your name is stripped away and not even your spouse or children will call you by your name. This is the hard truth and every soul shall taste death. So let us reflect on the Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ.
He ﷺ said:
“Take benefit of five before five:
your youth before your old age,
your health before your sickness,
your wealth before your poverty,
your free-time before your preoccupation,
and your life before your death.” (Hakim)
There are many Muslims dying today and becoming just bodies and another digit to the counter while you’re still alive. You should ask yourself, why has Allah (swt) chosen for you to live throughout this era of persecution of Muslims while the other 50% suffer from hunger, bombardment, abuse, persecution, and murder. He (swt) has clearly favoured you so that you can spend your time, wealth, and energy to carry the torch of Islam and light up the darkness in the world once again.
You can either take it as a blessing that Allah (swt) has spared you from destruction so that you may work in His Path, or you can take it as a curse for every second you spend in the path of your own desires will be stacking against you on Yawm al-Qiyaamah. Remember O Muslims, this life is but a test for you, a jail for the believers.
Take heed of the following Hadith.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“When Allah created Paradise, He said to Jibreel: ‘Go and look at it.’ Jibreel went and looked at it, then came and said: ‘O my Lord! By Thy might, no one who hears of it will fail to enter it.’
Allah then surrounded it with disagreeable things, and said: ‘Go and look at it, Jibreel.’ He went and looked at it, then came and said: ‘O my Lord! By Thy might, I am afraid that no one will enter it.’
When Allah created Hell, He said: ‘Go and look at it, Jibreel.’ Jibreel went and looked at it, then came and said: ‘O my Lord! By Thy might, no one who hears of it will enter it. ‘
Allah then surrounded it with desirable things and said: ‘Go and look at it, Jibreel.’ Jibreel went, looked at it, then came and said: ‘O my Lord! By Thy might and power, I am afraid that no one will remain who does not enter it.’ [Abu Daud]
Allah (swt) has surrounded Jannah with hardships and no doubt any of you who tread the path of righteousness to work in Allah’s (swt) cause will feel and endure the hardship put in place by the Almighty. For those who are not enduring any hardships you need to ask yourself, why?
